Representation in democracy allows minorities to have a greater voice... sometimes.

One Person, one vote.

Not everyone's vote counts the same.

Any organization can be broken up in many different ways. Representation differs depending on the way in which it has been divied up.

  • Prior Experience: Can help, but can be harmful if there's extra baggage.

Motivations for running for office

many people are asked to run.

Peter Principle: Positions of authority are never occupied by people competent to be in those positions. People are promoted to their level of incompetence and then they're left there.
