Elevator Pitch

Enticement: "tell me more" is the goal

Write down accomplishments that are most important and that you would like someone else to know about

  1. Network Administrator and Webmaster for an entrepreneur since high school
  2. 1st place Addison-Wesley Mechanical Scholar
  3. Self-written mathematical parser
  4. SCUBA Certification
  5. Terry Scholar
  6. Eagle Scout (from tiger cubs)
  7. Extremely comfortable with Linux Shell environment

Ask yourself three questions:

  1. So what? (do something with others)
  2. So what? (do something through others)
  3. So what? (do something for others)

Narrow scope to... "How may I be of service to your company? Would you like someone like me?"

  1. Accomplishments
  2. Charateristics
  3. Stuff to do after A&M

Connections

  1. Common Ground
  2. Smile and cordiality

Framing statement so others can relate to (a "yes" question)

  • Have you ever noticed...
  • You know how...
  • I'll never forget when...
  • Doesn't it seem like...

Why?

"Because" is the magic word because people wanna know why

Keep expectations realistic


Closing

Give business card for an invitation:

  • "call me anytime"
  • "maybe we can meet for lunch later"
  • "connect on linkedin"

Empty Chair: The person or thing in the mind of the person you're presenting to (his boss, clients, etc.)

What would you like someone to ask
